Sorry for the delay in this month’s newsletter our meeting was delayed.
Well so much for spring, hard to believe that we were having a heat wave this time last year; let’s hope the weather gets brighter in time for our first event of the season.
RYBURN TEAM SHOWJUMPING
Our team did very well at the Team Jumping last month. It was a nail biting finish (I couldn’t look). We had a jump off for 2nd place but had to settle for 3rd well done ladies.
MOTRAM TEAM SHOW JUMPING
I am looking for Team Members for the Team Show Jumping Event at Motram Show on the 4th May 2008. It begins at 9am so it will be an early start.
The height of the first three jumps will not exceed 2’ 6”. If you are interested please TELEPHONE me on 07841 535563 before the 18th APRIL.

Starting at 6.30pm prompt, in the Club Field: Entry fee payable on the night is £4.00 per class. Dress code: show jackets

Class 2 – Open
Turn Out will be judged competing for the year end Ron Joslin Trophy
Rules:
Both classes: Snaffle Bridles are preferred but we will allow any other type of bit. However please note that GAGS and any derivative thereof are NOT ALLOWED. (None snaffle bridles could be marked down)
No martingales, No spurs, short whips only (less than 30”)
6 May – DRESSAGE POINTS
Class 1 = Prelim 4
Class 2= Novice 28
Entry fee - £5
First time is approx 6.30pm All BD Rules apply
Turn Out will be judged.

11 May – WORKING HUNTER SHOW
At the club field 10.30am. - Schedule enclosed.
13 May – POINTS SHOWJUMPING
In the club field starting with clear round at 6pm followed by Novice, Intermediate, Open. Entry fee is £4.00 per class and £2.00 for clear round. Dress code: No Show Jackets but correct hats, boots and jodhpurs.

18 May 2008 - ANNUAL SHOW
The Annual Show will take place on the 18th May at Woodnook. There will be the usual classes with a few new ones. There is a member’s trophy up for grabs for members who gain the most points at the show which is presented at the AGM. Schedules now at Tack & Turn Out.
GROUP LESSONS AT THE CLUB FIELD
Instead of the Really Novice Jumping this year we will be running some group lessons at the club field twice a month on an evening with Heather Hopkinson. Please let me know if this would interest you. I need to get a feel of who is interested and numbers. Thanks 07841 535563 or email
ANNUAL TEAM CHALLENGE CUP
NORTHALLERTON EQUESTRIAN CENTRE 24TH & 25TH MAY 2008
On the Saturday three team members from each team will compete in the dressage, and three will compete in the cross country phase. On the Sunday all 6 team members will compete in the show jumping phase.
Dressage: three members of the team will ride the British Dressage Preliminary 15 (2008) test. Competitors will follow British Dressage rules.
Cross Country: three members of the team will ride the cross country course.
At each jump there will be two options, novice worth 10 points and intermediate worth 20 points. The points total from the cross country round and the dressage score will be added together to give your teams total.
Sunday 25th May:
All 6 members take part in the show jumping round, for each clear round you add 20 points to your team total. For every fence down, or refusal, we take 5 points away from your team total.
The fences in this phase will not exceed 2”6.
Their will be rosettes for the 1st to 6th placed teams, with the winning team getting the Challenge cup, and prizes sponsored by Fox Saddlers of Wetherby.
This event is open to all who want to give it a go, but it is by advance entry only.
Entries will only be accepted up to the 17th May 2008. Fee is £120 per team so only £20 each. Stabling at approx £25 including straw.

HEBDEN BRIDGE EQUESTRIAN CENTRE
Clinics with Peter Maddisson Greenwell throughout the year every six weeks (on Sundays for lecture/demos and Mondays for private sessions). He is a top international dressage trainer and regularly teaches in the USA. He is very kind and good at what he does and teaches any rider on any horse. He covers many topics in the lecture/demos and also has a discussion session afterwards for riders to ask him questions!
