Dear Members

All has gone quite on the horse theft front but please all remain vigilant and report any suspicious goings on to the police and other members. We are looking at organising a micro-chipping day at the club field please contact me if you are interested so I can get a feel of numbers.

Holmfirth police are interested in finding out whether there is merit in setting up a HORSEWATCH scheme in the area. They would like to know how many people might be interested in joining the scheme. They also hope to produce information packs to try and reduce the risk of horse and saddlery theft in the area. Horace does Hull!

I am pleased to report that I made it round Bishop Burton Area ODE clear, in one piece at the beginning of June! (Sorry members I defected for the day and was on the Holme Valley Team)

Hora was as good as can be expected, dressage was dreadful but hey what’s new, but of course when it came to his fav bit he was fantastic. Unfortunately we were not placed but I came away with a great sense of achievement.

Judy Jubb Hits New Heights

Our first Group Jumping Lesson with Heather went really well, we didn’t have any casualties apart from Heather & I who were eaten alive by midges! I must congratulate Judy Jubb who must be feeling really proud of herself and her horse Carrie. It was their 1st of many jumping lessons. (I’d better watch my back)!! Lessons are now full but we will look to running some more in the future.

There are places left for the flatwork lesson on the 17th July if you are interested please call me on 07841 535563.

When you book on lessons and/or a clinic you have to pay for it in advance, as is common practice elsewhere. We have to do this because we do have to pay the trainer’s fee and need to know in advance if it is viable to run them! If lessons are fully booked I will let you know on receipt of your booking form. Refunds will not be given unless your spot can be filled by someone else.

Starting at 6.30pm prompt, in the Club Field: Entry fee payable on the night is £4.00 per class. Dress code: show jackets

Class 1 – Novice

Class 2 – Open

Turn Out will be judged competing for the year end Ron Joslin Trophy

Rules:

Both classes: Snaffle Bridles are preferred but we will allow any other type of bit. However please note that GAGS and any derivative thereof are NOT ALLOWED. (None snaffle bridles could be marked down)

No martingales, No spurs, short whips only (less than 30”)

22nd July & 19 August – DRESSAGE POINTS

Class 1 = Prelim 4

Class 2= Novice 28

Entry fee - £5 All BD Rules apply Turn Out will be judged.

In the club field starting with clear round at 6pm followed by Novice, Intermediate, Open. Entry fee is £4.00 per class and £2.00 for clear round. Dress code: No Show Jackets but correct hats, boots and jodhpurs.

31st August – JUMP CROSS

This will run along similar lines to the ODE we held earlier in the year without the Dressage obviously. It would be excellent if we had the same turnout. Make a note in your diary for this event. Schedule and rules will be released soon.

11th September – Doncaster Races Ladies Day

For those of you like me who have too many shoes, hats and handbags and never the opportunity to wear them I am organising a Saddle Club Trip Out to the St Ledger Festival, Ladies Day at Doncaster Race Course. The transport logistics have not been decided upon yet and it will depend on how many of us there are. Don’t miss this excuse to get dolled up for the day. Tickets into the County Enclosure are £40.
